Following a decade focused on open source (at industry pioneers Red Hat and Canonical), Sonia’s career led her to the world of cloud computing, driven by her passion around easier, cheaper and faster access to software and digital tools. She has been leading B2B marketing teams in the tech industry for the past 15 years. Sonia headed the UK and Ireland Marketing function at Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the last seven years, launching multiple global initiatives and running the company’s biggest one day tech summit in the world.
In 2018, Sonia launched AWS GetIT, a social initiative designed to encourage more girls to consider a career in technology. The initiative also includes a training stream for female talents at Amazon Web Services to encourage them to take on leadership positions. To date, the initiative has reached 136 schools, over 15,000 students and involves 60 female AWS Ambassadors.
Sonia Ouarti is currently heading employees and developers engagements as well as leading the EMEA initiatives around Inclusion and Diversity at AWS.
